Coldwell Banker Commercial KGA, Meridian GIS and Kemp Griffin properties hosted a grand opening celebration in their new office building at 94 East Tabernacle today at 12:30 p.m.
The event kicked off with an official ribbon cutting staged by the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce Dixie Sunshiners. An open house followed the ribbon cutting. Catering was provided by Michelle Tuckness of the Rustic Tomato.

The Kemp Griffin Building was originally constructed in 1936 to house a new post office under the Works Progress Administration (WPA) as part of the federal government’s relief efforts during the Great Depression. Many elements of the original postmaster’s office remain intact in the building today. On display in the postmaster’s office during the grand opening were original blueprints, construction notes, historical photos of the era from Lynne Clark’s collection, and historic postal covers. A PowerPoint presentation chronicled life in Dixie during this time period, which is dubbed the “End of Isolation” by local historians Doug Alder and Karl Brooks.

“Steve Kemp and Graig Griffin are demonstrating a commitment to the downtown revitalization efforts,” St. George City Councilman Larry Gardner said.

Gardner added that he was happy to see the former post office and Village Bank building purchased and renovated by Kemp and Griffin, as it is an important professional services anchor to support other commercial businesses downtown.

Meridian GIS, a subsidiary of Kemp Griffin, Inc., gave a presentation of their state-of- the-art capabilities, including examples of applications of their aerial and oblique photography and samples of custom marketing materials provided to real estate agents, developers, title companies and special service districts and municipalities.

Coldwell Banker Commercial KGA was formerly an independent commercial real estate brokerage. Kemp Griffin Commercial Real Estate affiliated with Coldwell Banker Commercial in July 2006 to add national depth to marketing and services. Offices of Kemp Griffin, Inc. were formerly located in the historic Burgess House, also in the downtown historic district.
