With the onset of spring begins of flurry of events in Dixie, from the startup of Downtown Thursday Night and the Dixie-Escalante Kite Festival to the Roadrunners’ season opener, outdoor concerts, city festivities and graduations.
The pages of my calendar are pasted with enough sticky notes to tile my kitchen floor.
So much is happening that it can get almost overwhelming trying to decide which events we can fit into our schedules and into the space in our paper. In addition, because our paper is published weekly and because Dixie Weekly News is mailed to you, we often work more in advance than a daily paper. Story assignments are often planned two weeks before the paper arrives, always with our issue date in mind.
However, we appreciate and welcome your submissions of story ideas and your calls telling us of something happening in the community. We also welcome your submissions of calendar items, announcements, and notices of the achievements and celebrations of your loved ones for our People in Dixie page. We encourage you, also, to send us your photos of events you participate in that we cannot send a reporter to cover. Please accompany these photos with a caption giving us the names of people in the photo, what the event was about, and when and where it occurred. We’ll be happy to include these with our City Snaps.
Please e-mail your submissions to me, sharon@dixieweekly.com. Our deadline for submissions is Thursday, one week before the issue date.
We appreciate your readership and all the support the community has given us, and we hope you are enjoying the paper. Since our advertisers make our paper possible, please let them know you saw their ad in the pages of Dixie Weekly News.
