Betty Ruth Evans Goff
Betty Ruth Evans Goff quietly passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2008, in St. George, UT. Ruth was born March 7, 1906, in Preston, Idaho. She was the third child and first daughter of James Eddie Alexander and Minnie Alice Warrick Evans.
Ruth attended schools in Preston and then Idaho State College in Pocatello, Idaho, for two summer sessions in order to qualify as a teacher. She taught school in the Eastside School District in Preston for several years.
Ruth married Joseph C. Goff on June 24, 1929, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They are the parents of three children: Wayne, Betty and Aladeen. They have 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Ruth held many teaching and executive positions in the LDS Church organizations including ward, stake and regional genealogical positions. She has spent years on family history and research as well as extraction services for the church. She accompanied her husband on a mission to the Canada Toronto area in 1974-75.
In 1988, Ruth and Joe moved to St. George and spent many happy years there. Joe passed away in 2000.
Ruth is survived by her children; grandchildren; a sister, Valetta Petterborg; and many extended family members.
Services took place at the Webb Funeral Home in Preston, Idaho, on Saturday, March 29, prior to interment in the Preston City Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers at the St. George Care and Rehabilitation Center, the Legacy Assisted Living Center and Southern Utah Hospice.
