Artists' entries are being accepted through April 12 for the Desert Bloom Festival, May 3 and 4 in Kayenta.
Sponsored by the Xetava Desert Arboretum Foundation, the Desert Bloom Festival will showcase earth- and garden-themed artwork in a variety of mediums. The festival will also feature businesses and nonprofit organizations, who will be sharing information about water conservation, xeriscaping, recycling and other green principles. Local nurseries will also be on hand, selling plants and answering gardening questions.
To be considered for entrance to the art portion of the festival, artists must submit three photographs of their recent artwork, along with a nonrefundable $25 fee. Booth spaces for artists accepted to the festival will be 10 feet by 10 feet, and the cost is $150. Applications can be acquired online at www.desertbloomfestival.com or by calling 673-6628.
The Desert Bloom Festival will take place in the Xetava Desert Arboretum, 811 Kayenta Parkway, near the Coyote Gulch Art Village in Ivins. There will be music and vendor booths at the festival, and free workshops will take place on May 3.
Proceeds from the Desert Bloom Festival will benefit projects and maintenance at the Xetava Desert Arboretum, which features native desert plants and flora. For more information, visit www.desertbloomfestival.com or www.coyotegulchartvillage.com.
