Brenden Truman Wins Utah State Elks Hoop Shoot

For the third consecutive year, Brenden Truman of Santa Clara, representing the Dixie Elks Lodge, won first place in his division (12-13 year-old boys) of the Elks National Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest for the state of Utah. After winning the National Championship in Springfield, Mass., in the 8-9 year-old division, Brenden won the state contest by shooting 23 of 25 free throws. He now goes on to the Western Regional competition in Las Vegas, on February 29 - March 1. Autumn Shipp and Brooks Barney, also for the Dixie Elks Lodge, finished in the top three of their divisions in the state finals held in Provo on Feb. 9.
