Gaye Fillmore Baker
Gaye Fillmore Baker, age 62 passed away Dec. 20, 2007 at her home, surrounded by her family. She fought cancer for 10 plus years with dignity and grace, never complaining. She was an example to everyone she came in contact with.
She was born Oct. 4, 1945 in Beaver, Utah to Lee R. Fillmore and Chloe Farrer Fillmore. She was the youngest of six girls; Ann, Betsy, Ruth, Kay Lee and Jane. She grew up saddling horses, bucking hay, fixing fences and helping her dad with the race horses in Beaver.
She married her sweetheart, Raymond Kent Baker, on Dec. 8, 1962 and their marriage was solemnized a year later in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.
She was the loving mother of six children, Paula (Dale) Loveland, Natalie (Mike) Lammers, LeAnne (Troy) Jones, Jared (Lisa) Baker, Raegan (Rachel) Baker, and Shawnee (Eric) Heugly.
She was one of the hardest workers we've known whether it was painting one of her children's homes or re-shingling her own roof. She couldn't stand to see someone working and her not help.
Mom, you have and always will be the heart of our family. She was an example of goodness and light to 18 1/2 grandchildren and one great-grandson, each of whom knew they were Grandmas' favorite. She was preceded in death by her grandson Dustin Loveland.
Gaye is survived by four of her five sisters, her husband, her sons and daughters, their spouses and her grandchildren.
To our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, we will always remember your example of selfless service to each of us, to your church where you accepted and magnified all your many callings, and your service to anyone in need.
Your testimony of family history and temple work will bless and be a lasting legacy to your posterity. You taught us even in your death to be thankful and remain positive and endure to the end. We know we will see you again.
For I am now ready... And the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4: 6-7).
Services were Thursday, Dec. 27 at the Cedar 9th ward chapel, 280 S. 900 West. There were visitations Wednesday, Dec. 26 and Thursday before services at the church.
