Three Hundred and Counting
It all began for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Utah in January 2004, when the first local mentor/child match-up was made between Big Sister Danielle Walker and Little Sister Kelle, both of St. George.
Having just moved to St. George with her mom and siblings, Kelle was the new kid in town, struggling to make friends; her mom hoped that having a Big Sister would make things easier for her.
While Kelle and Danielle are now a veteran Big and Little team looking back on all their good times, 300th match Renton Williams and Little Brother Jace – introduced to each other on June 26 – are a rookie duo looking to the future.
Excited about being Big Brothers Big Sisters' 300th match, these new “brothers” have been on two outings together since their match. Jace has already opened up and become more talkative since they met, Renton said.
Renton, a teacher at Dixie High School, hopes that volunteering his time with Jace will have a positive impact on this new Little Brother.
Jace's mom, Amanda Middleton, is a single parent. She hopes that having a male role model and doing fun activities with his Big Brother will have a positive impact on her son.
