Obituary
Allen Ray (Jake) Jacobson was born in Longmont, Colorado, May 3, 1922, to Daisie V. (Orton) and Jesse C. Jacobson, and left to be with our Lord on October 17, 2006.
In 1930 Jake’s family moved to Cheyenne, Wyo., and he graduated from Central High School in 1939. He then furthered his education with some college courses while working for Coca Cola Bottlers. In May 1942, he enlisted with the United States Navy. Most of his naval career was as an Aviation Machinist's Mate, flying missions between Florida and Cuba in a PBY amphibious plane. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in November 1945.
He married his beautiful wife, Betty, on March 15, 1957, creating a wonderful blended family with four children. Two more sons were added to the family in the years to follow. Jake owned three successful businesses in Laramie, Wyo., and retired from My Furniture Store in 1986. After retirement, Jake and Betty started spending winters in Washington, Utah. They later bought a home there and made it their permanent residence. He loved playing golf, bowling, and making many wonderful friends. He was a much-loved husband for over 49 years and a wonderful father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, and children: Gary (Cheryl) Jacobson, Lynda (Jerry) McKinney, Rob (Clara) Jacobson and Skeeter (Tracy) Jacobson and nephew Steve (Jennifer) Jacobson. He had nine very special grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Irvin and two sons, Van Vern and Micky Ray.
A "Celebration of Al’s Life" will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Ridge Pointe clubhouse at 2 p.m. Ridge Pointe is located at 1240 E. Telegraph, Washington, Utah. Another celebration is being planned for late November in Laramie, Wyo. Arrangements are under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary, 435-673-4221.
