Inspired to Help
Inspired by the American Idol Gives Back charity event, eight Santa Clara girls staged their own charity talent show on Sept. 10. Belen Jackson, 11, gathered her friends and invited the neighbors after hearing about the Nothing But Nets program, which provides mosquito nets to African families. Each year, one million children die from Malaria. Each $10 donated pays for the repellent-treated net, its shipping, and training for the family to use it properly. While doing good, the girls also had a great time and are already planning their next event.
