Diane Patterson Beacham
Diane Patterson Beacham passed away unexpectedly but peacefully July 21, 2007, in Cleveland, Ohio, while traveling with her husband. Diane was born May 16, 1951, in Heber City, Utah, to Bob Jimmy Patterson and Hilda Thacker Patterson. She was the eldest of seven children and was raised in Heber City.
She attended Snow College, where she met her husband, Garth Rand Beacham. They were married and sealed for eternity on Dec. 18, 1971, in the Manti Temple. Their four wonderful children, Gregory, James, Jeffrey and Elizabeth, are their pride and joy.
Diane received a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Utah State University. After her children were all well along in school, she began teaching in the Washington County School District preschool program for disabled children. She was a skillful, loving and patient teacher who was loved by her students, their parents, and her colleagues.
Diane was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings in the church and was always happy to be involved in music with the Primary. In recent years, she was thrilled with her service with the Stake Relief Society Presidency at the College First Stake, and she dearly loved the sisters with whom she served.
Diane was an accomplished, trained singer, with a beautiful soprano voice. She sang many solo parts and acted in musical productions while at Snow College. At home, she often played the piano and sang with her children.
Diane loved knitting and crocheting, and she was always working on something to give to a family member or friend. Most recently, she made several baby blankets and other items for her granddaughter, who is expected in November. She loved to prepare cards and gifts to send to her children and family for birthdays, special occasions, or just to express her love. She loved decorating her family’s home, and she created a home of beauty, peace and unlimited love. Diane was an avid reader and she loved to discuss what she had read. Most of all, Diane loved being a mother and wife, and her love will always fill our hearts.
Diane is survived by her husband, Rand, of Santa Clara; their sons, Greg, of Oakland, Calif., James, of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Jeff (Jenny), of Cleveland; their daughter, Elizabeth, of San Jose, Calif.; her mother, Hilda Patterson, of Heber City; her siblings and their families: Julie and Loyal Summers, Robert and Marie Patterson, Joan and Chris Seggerman, Kim Patterson, David Patterson, and John and Danette Patterson; her mother-in-law, Marie Beacham; Rand’s siblings and their spouses, Kathy and David Williams, Bradley and Valerie Beacham, and Janet Jordan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were Saturday, July 28, at the Santa Clara Stake Center. Interment was in the Santa Clara Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary (435) 673-4221. Condolences may be sent to the family through the Metcalf Web site at www.metcalfmortuary.com.
