Helen Connie Simkins Baldwin
Our loving wife, mother and grandmother, Helen Connie Simkins Baldwin, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 15, 2007 at Valley View Medical Center with her family at her side.
Connie was born June 13, 1926 in Cedar City to Robert and Ellen Simkins. She graduated from Cedar High School in 1944.
She married her sweetheart Melvin Baldwin on July 22, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple. They were blessed with 60 years of happiness and love.
Connie worked as the director of the Senior Citizen Center for 20 years. She enjoyed working with the elderly and made some dear friends while working there. She volunteered as a Pink Lady at the Valley View Medical Center from 1972 until the present. Her cheerful and caring attitude was appreciated by many patients.
Connie lived a life of service. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in many callings in the Primary and Relief Society.
Connie and Mel enjoyed going to their cabin at Duck Creek. Connie was happiest when all of the family were together. She was a great cook and no one ever left her home hungry. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren love their Grandma Connie. She was their biggest supporter in anything they did.
She followed the example of the Savior by loving everyone through kindness, sharing and serving. Once you met Connie, you were her friend.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Melvin, and five children; Lynda (Lloyd) Kenney, Brenda (Dan) Webster, Larry (Vicki) Baldwin, Bob (Jane) Baldwin and Lisa (Layne) Holmes. She has 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
