STUDENT: Nate Carter
SPORT: Football
After the first two games of the season, Nate has six touchdowns and leads the state in rushing with 452 yards. Nate contributed valuable time last year for the Flyers and returns this season as a two-year starter.
COACH’S QUOTE: Coach Nelson doesn’t like to talk about individual players because football is a team game, but when he was told that Nate was chosen as Athlete of the Week he slightly grinned and nodded his head.
NATE’S VIEW: “A personal goal of mine this season is to rush for 2,000 yards.” Nate shares the same team goal this year with his fellow Flyers: “We want that ring.” That ring can be earned by Dixie winning the 3A State Championship, and with a ranking of fourth in the state, the Flyers have a good shot at doing so.
NOTES: Nate, a junior, is also a two-year starter on the baseball team and wrestles for the wrestling team. Nate carries a 3.3 GPA and plans on serving an LDS mission after graduating from Dixie. BYU and the University of Washington have already begun to grow an interest in Nate’s “Reggie Bush-like” statistics.
