Budd Iverson
Budd Iverson, age 84, passed away peacefully at his home in La Verkin June 30, 2007. He was born, Alvin Levi Iverson, on July 27, 1922, at Kaolin, Nev. to Victor Moses Iverson and Leoma McCain. He married Judith Jackson in Akron, Ohio on September 11, 1964. The marriage was solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple Oct. 14, 1964.
He was one of Southern Utah's last cowboys, growing up on the Arizona Strip and herding cattle and sheep in the Dixie country. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Afterward he returned to St. George, married and raised a family of seven children. In St. George he was a masonry contractor. When St. George got too large for this country boy, he moved the family to La Verkin.
Budd loved his country and was proud to defend the freedoms it offers. He had a firm belief in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was faithful in many callings in the LDS Church, including Temple ordinance worker and two missions with his wife.
He loved to plant and see things grow and was a mentor to numerous young people.
He is survived by his wife, Judith of La Verkin; children, Cathy Iverson of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Linda (Fred) Berendse of Rapid City, S.D., Clay (Raychelle) Iverson of Garrison, Utah, Randal (Sammy) Iverson of St. George, Liberty (Michael) Palfreyman of Concord, Calif., Victor (Audrey) Iverson of Hurricane; 28 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; his brothers, Keith Iverson and Archie Iverson both of Washington, Utah; and sister, Sharon (Jay) Hunt of Enoch, Utah. He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Iverson, two sisters and one brother.
He was a great father, husband and friend. If heaven is as beautiful as they say, Budd will be given a good horse and dog and a job on the Lord's Ranch. He will be mourned and missed but not forgotten. Ride on Budd.
Services were July 3, 2007 at the La Verkin 7th Ward Chapel. Interment took place in the La Verkin City Cemetery with a flag ceremony by the American Legion Post 100.
