Pauline Dorthy Oltermann Cazier Gardner
Pauline Dorthy Oltermann Cazier Gardner was born July 5, 1913, in Gotebo, Okla., the sixth child of Gerhard Oltermann and Karolina Meinsholt. Pauline was the only child in the family born in the United States, her brothers and sisters having been born in Bremen, Germany. She married Raymond Thomas in Oklahoma; they were later divorced. She married Lewis Owen Cazier April 29, 1944, in Elko, Nev. He preceded her in death in 1962. She married Leo B. Gardner in 1963. He preceded her in death in 1982.
Pauline lived many different places in the United States before settling in Ely, Nev. She worked at several occupations, the last being in the kitchen at William B. Ririe Hospital. She was an accomplished cook, and many enjoyed the results of her skill.
She was a long-time member of the Rebeccah’s Lodge and enjoyed a close friendship with her Rebeccah sisters. Pauline was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is survived by her only child, Roger Lee (Sue) Cazier, of St. George; grandchildren, Gina (Steve) Bouwhuis, John (Marlene) Cazier, Dan (Angela) Cazier, Neal (Amy) Cazier and Elizabeth Donleavy, all of St. George, Anjenette Cazier, of San Diego, and Nicole (Seth) Harrison, of Hurricane, Utah; and 19 great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Graveside services took place Saturday, July 14, 2007, at Lund Cemetery, Lund, Nev., under the direction of Bishop Harris. Interment was in the Lund Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221. Condolences may be sent to the family through the Metcalf Web site at www.metcalfmortuary.com.
The family of Pauline would like to express their deep gratitude to Bernie Laub of The Irish Cottage for her loving care of Mom through her final days. We would also like to acknowledge the special service of Zion’s Way Hospice.
