Jack R. Eves
LaVerkin
Jack R Eves, age 84, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2007 in LaVerkin, Utah at the home of his son Raymond (Jill) Eves. He was born May 28, 1923 in Storrs, Utah, a son of Joseph Pearce and Ruby Augusta Hallett Eves.
Jack was raised in eastern Utah and when he was around 12 years old moved to LaVerkin, Utah.
After moving to LaVerkin he met his future wife, Fawn Gubler. They were married in the St. George LDS Temple on May 11, 1944.
Jack was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a High Priest in the LaVerkin 2nd Ward. Jack served in the U.S. Army and later was the mayor of LaVerkin, Utah. Jack served as a Scoutmaster for the BSA several times and was a great youth leader all his adult life.
In 1960, Jack and Fawn moved to Sunset, Utah where they continued to raise their family. Jack was a hard worker and was in water-softener sales, real estate, construction and land development most of his life. Jack’s greatest joy in life was his sweetheart, Fawn. He loved his children and grandchildren and spent many hours telling them stories of his childhood and youth.
Jack is survived by his children, Raymond (Jill) Eves, LaVerkin, Utah; Eyvonne Fawcett, Henefer, Utah; Sharlene (Frank) Stoker, Clinton, Utah; Beverly (Lex) McCormick, Sunset, Utah; Jeanenne (K. Byron) Porter, Morgan, Utah; Jerry (Patty) Eves, Hurricane, Utah; and Royce (Dawn) Eves, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and foster children Wilson and Jay Deschine and Caroline Tsosie; 45 grandchildren and 64 great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ruby Eves, siblings, Joseph, Terry, Stephen, Robert, Betty Jane and Annabelle; wife, Fawn Gubler Eves; grandchildren, Jacob Michael Eves, Stacie Stoker; and son-in-law, Arlo C. Fawcett.
Services will be Saturday July 21, 2007 at the LaVerkin Stake Center 481 N. Main LaVerkin. Visitations will be Friday, July 20, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hurricane Valley Mortuary, 140 N. Main, Hurricane; and again Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the Stake Center. Interment will be at the LaVerkin Cemetery. Arrangements are being made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, Hurricane, Utah, (435-635-2454).
