Anna Elizabeth Anderson Manwaring, age 101, passed away Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at her home in the Cliff View Senior Living Community, St. George, Utah.

Elizabeth was born July 24, 1905, in Sandy, Utah, the third of five children of Anton Wictor and Anna Larson Anderson, who both immigrated to the United States from Sweden. As a child, she always thought the 24th of July celebrations were in her honor. She grew up in Magna, Utah, graduating from Granite High School.  She worked at the Cooper Mercantile Store in Magna as a bookkeeper until she married Richard Ariel Manwaring, Oct. 21, 1931, when she moved to San Francisco, Calif. Joyce Lynne was born Sept. 3, 1932, and the family was completed with the birth of Diane on July 30, 1934.

Elizabeth was always active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Relief Society, MIA, and as Primary President in her California San Mateo Ward.  Because of her good example, her neighbor, Mary Smith, and her two children, Lela and Fred, joined the church.  Elizabeth’s descendants hope to follow her example of faith and testimony.

After her two daughters were raised, Elizabeth went to work in the Plant Department of the Pacific Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company, where her husband was employed.  She and her husband were always generous in helping their extended family whenever they were in need.   She and her husband, Dick, loved to travel and enjoyed golfing together. After retiring, Beth and Dick moved back to Salt Lake City, Utah, to be closer to their families. In 2001, Elizabeth moved to St. George, Utah, to be closer to her daughters.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Ralph Victor Anderson, of Anaconda, Montana; three sisters: Elsa Victoria Poulsen, of Magna, Utah; Esther Linea Jones, of Cedar City, Utah; Florence Matilda Goode, of Compton, Calif.; and four great-grandchildren. She was the last living family member of her generation.

Our family would like to thank the aides at Cliff View Senior Living Community and the Hospice Alliance who have so lovingly cared for her these past few years.

Elizabeth is survived by her two daughters and their husbands: Joyce Lynne and Ramon Duke, from Heber City, Utah, and recently of St. George; and Diane and Donald R. Snow, from Provo, Utah, and St. George.

Grandma Manwaring will be missed by her ten grandchildren: Lynnae (Arlen) Christensen, David (Susan) Duke, Chris (Beccie) Duke, Debbie (Greg) Cornell, Don (LeAnn) Snow, Linda (Kevin) Westover, Judy (Lance) Spencer, Kathy (Tom) Gill, Jenny (Michael) Jackson, and Jim (Jennie) Snow. They loved to visit her house, and she always had a treat for them from the candy jar.  She always thought they were "so cute, so good, and so smart."

She is survived by 48 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. A lot of descendants call her blessed.

Graveside Services were held Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at 2 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Heideman Mortuary.
