Lillian A. Malm
Lillian Amy Marie Matson Malm, Washington County's oldest living resident, had to relinquish that title early June 25 when she slipped quietly away from us to join her Heavenly Father; just three weeks short of her 106th birthday.
Lillian was born in Bertrand, Neb. on July 14, 1901. She was the youngest of eight children of Matthias Matson and Johanna Lindsten Matson. After high school in Bertrand, Lillian attended Bethany College in Lindsborg Kan., where she met her husband-to-be, Ignace “Ig” Lawrence Malm.
Last October Lillian's granddaughter, Melissa Malm, and her husband Heath Belden presented her with her first great-grandchild, Naomi Belden Malm. Besides Naomi, Lillian is also survived by her children, Margaret Malm and Donald (Becky) Malm, and granddaughter Melissa.
