Harley Dean "Pean" "Wandering Duke" McCaslin died March 19, 2007 at his home. He was the son of Elmo Ross McCaslin (deceased) and CeCelia Avon Richmond McCaslin, (deceased). He was born in Heavener, Okla. on Aug. 24. 1932 where he spent his formative years. He attended the Heavener Public Schools and graduated from high school in 1950.
He entered the United States Air Force during May 1951 and served for 27 years, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant in July 1978. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He received two Meritorious Service Medals, The Bronze Star, seven Air Force Commendation Medals along with a number of other distinctive service and campaign medals. He was awarded the Master Explosive Ordnance Disposal Badge and the Master Missileman Badge. Over 15 years of his military service were spent in foreign countries.
Upon retirement from the military he spent 20 years with the Defense Commissary System where he retired as the District Manager (GS-14) and joined Centennial Management Services as vice president. His formal education included a BS Degree from the University of Maryland and a Master of Business Administration from Golden Gate University, San Francisco, Calif.
He was married to his friend and sweetheart, Janet Ann Cross, from London, England. He has seven children: Havana Gay Shuler of Salina, Kan., Angela Dene McWilliams of Salina, Kan., Gale West of Heavener, Okla., Craig Steven McCaslin of Las Vegas, Nathan Ross McCaslin of St. George, Utah, Aaron Daniel McCaslin of Las Vegas and Adrian Samuel McCaslin of Las Vegas. Two brothers, Byfard Eugene McCaslin (deceased) Robert Gerald of Ft. Smith, Ark. and one sister, Wanda Avonne Price of Collinsville, Okla. He had two sons-in-law and two daughters-in-law; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. McCaslin was an Ordained and Licensed Minister of the Baptist Church and member of the American and English Masonic Lodges, Scottish Rite, American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars and American Logistic Association.
His greatest passion and love was the family and their achievements.
Services were Thursday, March 22 at Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. A visitation was Thursday before the services at the mortuary. Graveside services with full military honors were Friday, March 23 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, Nev. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society.
