Athletes of the Week

Riley Dias
Pine View High School
Student: Riley Dias
Sport: Soccer
Being recognized as this week's outstanding student athlete from Pine View High School is junior soccer player Riley Dias. Riley plays the forward position on the soccer team and was also a participant on the Pine View Panthers football team. He is a good student, maintaining a 3.3 GPA. Riley's positive outlook toward athletics and academics and his determination to achieve success have earned him the honor of being recognized as the athlete of the week.
According to Riley: “The people on the team make soccer a great game to play. We're all very close to one another. Of course, scoring goals is fun, but it's also fun to play soccer because it's a chill sport that's relaxing. Playing the game is fun; hanging out with my teammates is awesome. We're like one big family when we're together.”
Riley's dad: “The thing that's made Riley so good in the sports he plays is his older brothers and sisters. He’s always been pushed by his siblings. They've always had great expectation for him, and they don't let him quit. He gets a lot of support from them. He has always had a really good attitude about working out. He loves to get up early and work out. He almost hates to be late. Practice is almost his middle name. I would bet that five days out of the week, he is either practicing soccer or football. He has a great fun-loving personality. He loves the camaraderie he has with his teammates. He's got the type of personality that attracts others to him.” - Rob Dias
As a junior in high school, Riley has enjoyed playing football, soccer and track. He is eager to finish high school but thoroughly enjoys learning at school. Math and English are his two favorite subjects. He appreciates the challenge of working hard in a tough class and seeing the results of his hard work. Riley admires his older brothers Robbie and Ricky, both past athletes and students at Pine View High School, for the good examples they've shown him. He appreciates the things they've taught him about athletics. After high school, Riley plans on serving an LDS mission and attending college. Playing collegiate sports interests him, but his education is his priority. He hopes to study medicine at Brigham Young University. Outside of school and school sports, Riley enjoys spending time with family, playing sports with his siblings and watching movies.
