Dixie High School

Student: Tyler Hukill
Sport: Soccer

Nominated as this week's outstanding student athlete from Dixie High School is senior soccer player Tyler Hukill. Tyler maintains a 3.91 GPA and has participated in football and soccer. He enjoys working with his teammates and competing against other teams. For his determination in school and on the playing field, he is the athlete of the week.
According to Tyler: “Soccer is just fun and exciting. It's not like basketball, when you foul out after making toO many mistakes. Our team gets along pretty well. We always hang out off the field, and while we're on the field, everyone just laughs when someone makes a mistake. In order to succeed, everyone has to want to win. We have to show up to practice and work hard.”
Tyler's dad: “Tyler is a hard worker. He gets into something and gives it his all. He practices hard and he plays hard. He's as competitive as they come in everything he does. He does the same at home. He's always willing to help out, and he always does his best in whatever he's doing. We enjoy his upbeat, funny personality. He's a great young man who does the things he supposed to do when he needs to do them.” -Mike Hukill
Coach's view: “As the quarterback for the football team this year, Tyler showed that he can motivate everyone around him to do better. During soccer practice, it's easy to see he wants to win. He realizes that achieving success begins on the practice field. On the field, he does his job and stays out of the spotlight. The credit usually goes to the other guys on the field. He is a leader by example.” - Josh Jackson
Tyler will conclude his senior year in May. He looks forward to attending Dixie State College, where he'd like to walk on playing football for the Rebels or play club soccer. He anticipates studying medicine to become a doctor. He enjoys seminary, math and science and will always remember high school sports. He plans on serving an LDS mission after a year of college. He looks up to his older brother, who also played soccer at Dixie. His brother taught him how to work hard and never give up. Outside of sports and school, Tyler enjoys wake boarding and snowboarding.
