LeRay Johnson Little
LeRay Johnson Little, 78, passed away March 13, 2007, at his home in St. George, Utah. He was born Sept. 2, 1928, in Delta, Utah, the son of Ezekiel Ross and Laura Wilkerson Little.
Shortly after Ray’s birth, the family moved to Provo, where he attended Provo High School and BYU. He was a manager of a finance company and later was a State Farm insurance agent, which he did for 35 years.
Ray married Marilyn Jean Anderson in Las Vegas on June 25, 1953, 53 years ago. They spent most of their married life in West Valley City, Utah, before retiring to St. George in 2000.
Ray loved golf and antique cars. He drove his cars in the Days of ’47 Parade for many years and escorted many dignitaries, queens and politicians.
He was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge in Murray, Utah. He was an honorary colonel in the West Valley City Police Department because of his service in supporting the department in many of their activities.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; two sons, Lance Ray (Karen) Little, of Salt Lake City, and Layne Ross (Archana) of Potsdam, N.Y.; two sisters, Flora (Fred) Holland of Honolulu, and Rosalie (Tom) Scholes of Santa Clara; and four brothers: Vern Little, of Pleasant Grove, Utah; Shirel (Betty) Little, of Birdsboro, Pa.; Harold (Sharon) Little, of St. George; and Thomas (Diana) Little, of Provo. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters-in-law, Peggy and Charlotte.
Services were Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George. Interment was in the Tonaquint Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary, 435-673-4221. Condolences may be sent through the Web site at www.metcalfmortuary.com.
