Pine View High School

Student: Kevin Clements
Sport: Track and Field

This week's outstanding student athlete from Pine View High School is senior Kevin Clements. Kevin participates with the Panthers Track and Field team but focuses his efforts on football. Maintaining a 3.8 GPA, he is an excellent athlete who puts equal amounts of effort in sports and school.
According to Kevin: “My main focus is football. I'd like to get a scholarship to play football at SUU. Track is really hard for me. I don't love it, but it's a good way to improve. Track and football are so different from each other. In football, everyone has to be on the same page. Football is much more mental and track is just you. Nobody can change it; it's all about the effort you put forth.”
Kevin's coach: “Kevin stood out as an athlete last year in the 100, 200 and relay races. He's been very dedicated in the off-season, and he is always out doing something to become a stronger athlete. Come springtime, there are many kids who don't want to be playing sports. They'd rather relax. Kevin is the one who's out beating the bushes to get kids to come be a part of the team. He's always out running and training. He's truly emerged as a great athlete.” - Vance Casperson
Kevin's mom: “Kevin is really dedicated. He works every day. I'm proud of him and happy for the rewards he receives from his hard work. His coaches have really taught him that hard work really does pay off. Kevin is an awesome son. He is a peacemaker, he's a hard worker at home, and he likes to keep busy.” - Shellee Clements
Kevin is a senior and will graduate this year. He really likes high school. His favorite class is AP Biology. He plans on attending SUU in the fall and hopes to play football for a year. He plans on then serving an LDS mission. He wants to enter the pre-dental program at SUU. Dentistry has always interested him. Kevin looks up to his older brothers. His brother Nate always set a good example of being a hard worker. Kevin enjoys hanging out with friends, playing sports, going to the lake and being outdoors.
