By Southern Utah Focus
Attention all soloists and American Idol wannabes! The St. George Roadrunners Baseball Team will be holding tryouts for soloists, of all ages, to sing the National Anthem during their home games this season, May 12 at 6:30 p.m. Bring your family and friends to Bruce Hurst Field, and show off your talent.
“If you have talent, and have always wanted to sing the National Anthem in a stadium setting, then be at Bruce Hurst Field May 12 for tryouts,” Rick Berry, Roadrunners president, said.
The top five, best of the best contestants picked to sing, will also receive season tickets and other prizes.
The Roadrunners are entering their second season as St. George’s very own Minor League Baseball team. The 2008 season starts off in May with new talent on the field. They will be backing up Cory Snyder, skipper for the second year, who is a former nine-year Major Leaguer and played on the 1984 Olympic team. The Roadrunners anticipate a very successful season with a much improved player roster.
2008 season runs from May 22 to August 31, hosting teams from Canada, California, Nevada and Arizona. For ticket information contact the Roadrunners at 435-673-5333. Season tickets and group discounts available now.
